In the Fall of 2008, I sat at my desk and was very distraught as I thought about some of the news events of the year.

• Atheists were busy filing lawsuits to take prayer, the Ten Commandments and even the idea of God out of American society.
  
  
• American Muslims in Florida screamed obscenities and held signs that told Jews to "Go back to the ovens!"
  
  
• A gay man in California decided to hang Sarah Palin in effigy for Halloween and thought it "fun."
  
  
• Christians in San Diego were banned by the city from having a Bible study in their own home.
  
  
• Presidential Candidate Barak Obama had his campgaign team covered up the monogram "IHS" that symbolizes the name of Jesus before his campaign speech at Georgetown University (a private Catholic college).
  
  

The disturbing list could go on forever. Change has come to America. We seem to be on a downward spiral that is ticking faster than ever before. For all the arguments put forth by those who do not believe in God, but do believe our nation would be a better place if God were not in it, America is fast becoming less free as we give into secular socialism and what Billy Graham calls "spiritual deception." As he writes in his book Storm Warning, published in 1992:

"Many people have decided that there is no room for God in their lives, no need of Him. The problem is, however, that denying the existence of God cannot make Him go away any more than denying the Internal Revenue Service makes the tax man go away . . . in this age of humanism, man wants to believe he can become his own god."

I stopped everything I was doing that day and asked, "God, what can I do?"

It was more of a rhetorical question. However, the answer was so immediate that it stunned me:

"Keep God in America."

Wow . . . but my response shocked me even more.

I immediately said out loud, "I can't do that! I don't have the time! I don't have the resources!"

Then I sat back in awe and waited. The answer kept coming . . .

"Keep God in America."

Skeptics will tell you that it is impossible to hear the voice of God, because they feel there is no God, and any answer you think you may receive comes from your own head. Believe me, I have heard the voice of God loud and clear on two other very specific occasions in my life, and the reason I know it was God's voice is because I did NOT want to do what he told me to do. And now, I did not want to begin to try to "Keep God in America." One, I had no idea where to start. Two, I knew if I did start, it would be a heck of a lot of work! (When you ask a question, and God gives you an answer, get ready to do something big!)

While I was sitting at my desk, a 30-something-year-old banker named Chris Nwasike was sitting at his desk in Florida. He was feeling great anxiety over America's slide into socialism and anti-God rhetoric. After the presidential election, he started praying diligently for America and for all elected officials.

"I was shocked that so many politicians supported everything that was anti-life and anti-family and that these politicians were inspiring so many people."

Chris continued to pray that God might tap the right people on the shoulders to be the leaders who would help take our country in the right direction. God sent a message to Chris, but it wasn't what he expected.

The message was, "What about YOU?"

Chris didn't want the job.

"I felt I had too many shortcomings to be a leader," Chris said. "And then God came back to me with the name, "Moses."

Intrigued by the message, Chris went back to study the story of Moses and found that the man had many shortcomings, which gave Chris great hope. He told himself that maybe he could make a difference, even if he wasn't perfect. He became active in the Republican Party and became the president of the Duval County Young Republicans.

in August of 2009, he put together a Religion in Government forum where he invited Florida state senators, a councilman and pastors to speak and exchange ideas about God and government. Chris believes that more Christians should be involved in politics.

"Politicians have power to influence policy, and policy affects people," he said. "If you're a Christian, it's not cool today. Even some pastors think we should go the way of the world. I disagree. God has called us to be leaders."

Chris had also invited leaders from the Muslim community.

"They agree with Christians on issues like family and abortion," Chris said. "They said they would come, but in the end, they stood me up, along with some Christians I thought would be there to help out."

At the end of the day, Chris was less than encouraged by the dialogue within the seminar and by the lack of attendance.

"Those who called themselves Christians didn't always come through," he said. "I just felt like . . . we have a lot of work to do."

That was until a couple walked into his office one day and asked, "When are you going to do the next thing God has called you to do?"

"At that point, any bitterness I felt about the event went through the window," Chris said.

He became active in the Jacksonville, Florida Tea Party movement, and was asked to speak at a Freedom Rally. He then got the idea to create a "Keep God in America" rally with seminars, speakers and music concerts. At first it was to be a regional event. Those involved in the planning encouraged Chris to make it a national event. In order to create and promote his plan, he began searching the Internet and found www.KeepGodinAmerica.com.

And there I was at my desk, working away on a project that God had told me to create: www.KeepGodinAmerica.com, but I had no idea who would want to hear the message or how they would find me in this big world, when I received an email from Chris Nwasike:

"We are having a Keep God in America Rally in Jacksonville, FL March 26th, 27th, and 28th. We'd like to partner with your site to promote our event. Please call me."

I sat back in my chair in amazement . . . and then I got up and danced around the room and thanked God that I wasn't crazy. I did hear His voice! I was supposed to do the work! One imperfect person who loves God can make a difference, because you're connected to another imperfect person, and another imperfect person, until you are a huge group of imperfect people who love God and are trying to reach out to the world and say,

"Hey, you are loved! Accept that gift of Love — God, who came to be with us. Wash away your imperfections within God's Love and your life will change . . . not in a worldly way, but in an unworldly way that will affect you to the deepest core of your being and for all eternity."
